Bai Maо Hou White Tea|Flavor Introduction
White tea is one of the rarest types among the six major categories of tea. Compared to the freshness of green tea, the richness of black tea, the robustness of black tea, or the floral and fruity notes created through different levels and methods of fermentation in oolong tea, white tea, which only undergoes withering and drying processes, often presents a delicate flavor profile. When crafted from the precious Bai Mao Hou leaves, white tea exhibits a soft and tender appearance. After prolonged soaking, it exudes a delightful aroma accented with floral honey notes, enveloped in a gentle and mellow undertone.

During the period when Taiwanese tea experienced a boom in exports, Shou Mei white tea was once extensively produced for export. However, as Taiwan’s tea industry transitioned into a prosperous domestic market, coupled with favorable conditions, oolong tea emerged as the dominant force, reigning supreme in the tea market. Starting from the Lugu tea region and extending to areas like Alishan, Shanlinxi, Lishan, and Dayuling, oolong tea of varying degrees of fermentation enjoyed a golden era that has continued for decades. This trend had a significant impact on white tea, as many of the key tea varieties for export during that period experienced a sharp decline in production and gradually faded into obscurity.
Encouraging and promoting tea culture in Taiwan is our aspiration, and reviving the past glory holds even more significance for us. We have employed experienced tea masters with decades of experience in tea making to showcase the wonderful flavor of white tea once again. Although the process of making white tea may seem simple, it involves a wealth of knowledge. Even a slight oversight could result in the production of tea with an unattractive appearance and poor quality. Harvesting white tea requires suitable tea tree varieties and skilled tea pickers, both of which are quite challenging.
Over the past decade, the Taiwanese tea industry has been undergoing generational transition and technological upgrading, with many young people joining the tea-making industry, injecting new vitality into the sector. This not only continues the legacy of the past delightful flavors but also allows the lost classic flavors to reappear before people’s eyes!
The two new offerings,”Bai Mao Hour White Tea” and “Da Manzhong White Tea,” are both made from extremely rare tea tree varieties found in the market. They are crafted using the traditional white tea processing method without rolling, and their appearance is delightful and charming. Only a small amount of tea leaves is needed, and after steeping for a long time, you can experience the smooth and mellow tea flavor. Each of these white teas has its own delicate and unique flavor profile, which we are delighted to share with you.
