Puzhen Tea · Light Box

The “Tin Can” series by Puzhen Tea strengthens the connection between Puzhen and tea. Through four colors symbolizing flavor profiles, it divides a dozen tea varieties into four major series, making it convenient for customers to choose suitable teas. We are also exploring whether packaging can further create more engaging tea experiences.

At that time, as the brand entered its fifth year of development, many customers had developed a love for Taiwanese tea after trying our beverages. They gradually cultivated an interest in brewing tea themselves. However, most of them were inexperienced beginners. Therefore, we have been constantly pondering whether it`s possible to make the tea brewing process simpler through packaging.

Typically, when selling tea leaves, it`s customary to provide a brewing instruction sheet. If “paper” is chosen as the packaging material, theoretically, the brewing instructions can be printed on the packaging, achieving an eco-friendly effect. Therefore, we`ve incorporated a clever design in the “opening and closing”: when closed, it`s packaging paper, and when unfolded, it`s the brewing instructions.

To make tea brewing simpler, we first need to define what “simple” means, and this simplicity relates to the core question of whether the tea tastes good or not. Years of experience in brewing tea have taught us that the taste of brewed tea hinges on one crucial factor: “the quantity of tea leaves.” Many beginners struggle to brew good-tasting tea, often because they use either too many tea leaves, resulting in an overly strong brew, or too few, leading to a weak brew. Therefore, the aim of this packaging is to provide a simple standard for beginners regarding the quantity of tea leaves, addressing this common issue.

Therefore, on this brewing instruction sheet, We`ve designed a small circle for measurement. If the circle is filled with tea leaves, it represents the amount needed for a 150 ml serving. Lastly, it should be easy to pour the measured tea leaves into the teapot. In the traditional world of tea ceremonies, there`s a tool called “chahao,” which is used to easily transfer tea leaves into the teapot. So, the final ingenious touch is to structure this sheet like a chahao, satisfying three desires in one packaging solution. And that`s how this packaging, fulfilling three wishes at once, came to be!

The journey from meeting the “Tin Can” customers” demand for convenience to making tea brewing simpler has deepened our understanding. It`s shown us that beyond aesthetics, the most crucial aspect is considering the necessity of packaging and exploring various possibilities to solve problems based on customers` actual consumption experiences.
