Today, I`m sharing with you Taiwanese Oolong Tea (Taiwanese Oolong Tea). There are many types of Taiwanese Oolong Tea with diverse names, which often confuse tea beginners. Is High Mountain Tea oolong tea? Is Dong Ding Tea oolong tea? Today, let`s explore the varieties of Taiwanese Oolong Tea.
Oolong tea is a type of tea-making method, which involves partially fermenting (oxidizing) the tea leaves. Unfermented (unoxidized) tea leaves become green tea, while fully fermented (oxidized) tea leaves become black tea. It can be understood as the process of a persimmon changing from green to orange-red and then to black. In fact, most of the tea consumed in Taiwan is oolong tea. However, due to their different characteristics, they are given different names. Taiwanese oolong teas, ranging from lightly to heavily fermented (oxidized), include the following: Wenshan Baozhong Tea; High Mountain Oolong Tea; Dong Ding Oolong Tea; Tie Guan Yin Tea; Oriental Beauty Tea; Red Oolong Tea.
Although the names and colors of these teas vary, they are all considered oolong tea. In simple terms, if the tea doesn`t taste like green beans or if the tea soup is not deep red or black, it`s likely oolong tea.
